Your New Favorite Powder Playground
Tetnuldi is everything you want in an adventure ski destination: high-elevation terrain, pristine snow, and barely another rider in sight. With lifts reaching 3,160 meters, the snow is consistently dry and deep and while the resort itself might be small with just a few groomed runs, the real draw is the off-piste and backcountry terrain.
If you’re into touring, the options are endless, with routes that take you to remote villages like Ushguli and Zhabeshi. And the resort is extremely affordable. Lift passes here cost less than a day at any major European or North American resort. But just remember, Georgian Mountain Time is real—don’t be surprised if lifts start running a little late.
The Upper Svaneti Region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Mestia is located in the Upper Svaneti Region, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town feels like stepping into a time capsule, dotted with centuries-old medieval stone fortresses called Svan towers. Here, you can visit the Mikheil Khergiani Museum, where you can climb the ladders inside a tower that was once home to Georgia’s most famous alpinist. And to learn more about the region's history, explore the Svaneti Museum of Ethnography, which showcases artifacts and exhibits about the local culture.
Local Food and Après Ski
After a day on the mountain, we highly recommend that you skip the granola bars and, instead, refuel with some local Svan dishes. Khachapuri is loaded with cheese, and kubdari is packed with spiced meat—both are perfect after a long day. Wash it down with a shot of chacha for the full Georgian experience.
Cafe Laila is widely considered to be the best restaurant in Mestia. And after the sun goes down, locals gather at Twin Peaks, a fun bar in town!
A Perfect End to the Trip
After a week in the mountains, we’ll wrap things up in Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital. You’ll have two nights to explore the city—wander the streets, check out the markets, and enjoy some great food. It’s a mix of old-world charm and modern energy and the perfect way to round out an epic trip before heading home.
