South America Delivers on Both Terrain and Snow

Nevados de Chillan (previously called Termas de Chillan) is the best spot in Chile for riders who love untouched powder and varied terrain. And with over 10m of annual snowfall, this mountain stays loaded throughout the season

The resort is situated next to 3 volcanoes (1 of them active) so much of the terrain was shaped by lava flow which created bowls, gullies and natural half-pipes to explore. There is also a lot of easily accessible off piste lines that requires little to no hiking to reach and there is so much terrain that you can easily find untouched snow with little competition from other riders.

If resort skiing is your speed, there are plenty of options inbounds for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders looking to improve their skills.

Nevados De Chillan Ski Resort

We’ll spend 8 full guided days on the mountain in and around Nevados De Chillan Ski Resort. Here’s why we’re stoked:

The village sits at 1,403m (4,600ft) with the summit at 2,500m (8,200ft) so the vertical drop is an incredible 1,097m (3,600ft). The resort features 12 lifts, 35km (22 miles) of runs, and the legendary Tres Marías—a 13km (8 mile) groomer that’s the longest run in South America—this place delivers for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

It’s also one of the few ski resorts in Chile with tree skiing if that’s your jam.

And after a long day of riding some of the best snow of your life, Nevados de Chillan’s thermal hot spring pools will be right next door waiting for you.

Why Nevados de Chillan Over Other Ski Destinations?

Skiing in the summertime is hard to beat and heading to the airport in shorts with a bag full of ski gear is truly a unique experience.

At Nevados de Chillan, you’ll find a quiet resort with incredible snow, friendly locals, and a rich dose of Chilean culture. The food is not only delicious but also budget-friendly, and being nearly 500km south of Santiago means far fewer Westerners and crowds. It’s an authentic experience in a part of the world most skiers and boarders never get to explore.

This trip is suitable for skiers and riders of any skill level from Intermediate to Expert

If you are comfortable on blue terrain, Nevados de Chillan offers plenty of suitable runs to refine your technique and efficiency. Intermediates will love the 10km-long Tres Marias, the longest groomed run in South America, and when you’re ready, we can introduce you to powder at the trail’s edge or guide you into the Freeride Zone for steeper, ungroomed descents.

For advanced skiers or riders who handle groomed black runs, shallow powder, and trees, we’ll elevate your skills even further. We’ll help you find in-bounds powder stashes, and if you have the right gear and training, we can venture into the side country or backcountry. Expect an introduction to touring, avalanche safety, and fine-tuning your technique so that you glide effortlessly through powder.

If you’re an expert comfortable on the entire mountain, including double diamond terrain, tight trees, and deep powder, Nevados de Chillan will be a paradise. We’ll guide you toward untouched snow, whether in-bounds or in the backcountry, and if you’re keen on skinning, countless options await. Full avalanche safety training will ensure you’re ready to fully embrace these incredible conditions.
